SAYORI HOA

WARRIOR OF LIGHT

LORE

Sayori was born to her parents, whose names she refuses to disclose, within Sui-no-Sato, in the depths of the Ruby Sea. She was raised as an honest merchant within the aquatic dome, told to never leave as the Ruby Princess willed it. But that was not what she wanted for her life. Growing up, she would see big ships passing by, and spent her free time watching the Kojin swim around her little village, her eyes sparkling as she watched them perform the most mundane of tasks outside of the dome. However, everything changed when her father had sustained a leg injury, leading to her accompanying him to Kugane to assist in trading and purchasing goods to bring back and sell to the village. That was when she learned of the culture and civilisations of the outside world. On these trips to the big city, she learned more about the people - merchants from around the world, hunters, and then… adventurers. Adventurers that sought out to explore Eorzea, ones who told her their radiant stories that consisted of conquest, unexpected friendships, and treasure. That’s when she knew she had to leave her home behind her. That conversation did not go over well for her, unfortunately. As her mother was highly religious and immediately rejected the thought, telling her that if she left she would be reprimanded and disowned. Her father stood there quietly, Sayori could have almost sworn to see a tear roll down his cheek when she said she was leaving, but she had long known that her family and her village would choose to forget her existence the moment she left. She knew that to live the life she wanted, she had to leave. So she left, at just 16 years old.======================================It was a late night, an hour or two before dawn broke out on the sea, when she packed her things and got ready to leave. She did not know what she was going to do, but she knew the thrill of adventure would guide her, and keep her hopeful. A Kojin man, who had introduced himself as Sorobon, had recognised her bright blue and yellow hair as he swam by on his way back to Tamamizu, the neighboring village. He offered to take her along to his home in Tamamizu and then to Kugane, as he knew her leaving the village meant she would traverse the world alone from that point. He was her first friend from the outside world. She would spend their many hours together learning about his life and how he came to become a merchant who sold riches from the sea in Kugane, while she shared much about hers - what life was like in Sui-no-Sato, and her first introduction to the world and the people she met briefly and heard stories from in Kugane. She learned that they were eight years apart in age, but within the short amount of time they had spent together, Soroban would become the older brother she never had.
